...dary!
Here's the gist. Two friends of mine (we'll call them John and Brad) made a "slap bet" which Brad won and proceeded to slap John with the force of a small pony. It was both painful and rapturous to watch as I had front row viewing. Later, they decided to make anotherslap bet because John is a glutton for punishment.
A note about this first slap: it took place in a relatively enclosed space; so it wasn't possible for Brad to get a slap with 100% charge up. This was not the case for the upcoming event.
A second note; Brad has hands like cudgels and the hobby of lifting people in the air to measure their weight within a kilogram. This is not the man with whom to make a slap bet.
The bet? A hands-up survey of the individuals at the St. Patrick's Party with the following: Which is more awesome: Dragonball or Pinball Wizard? Also, part of the bet was that no discussion was allowed; so, if someone didn't know what the items in contention were, then they couldn't ask.
Pinball Wizard, and Brad, won handily.
The slap. Unlike before, Brad had the space for full range of motion to really lay his body weight deep into John's poor, very much suspecting face. And boy did he.
I apologize for the quality of the video; it was captured by an errant cell phone videographer.
That poor, poor man, but God I wish I knew who took the picture at the end.
Oh, they have another slap bet coming up which John will also lose; so hopefully we'll get a better video this time.

But I'll take your bet and you're gonna regret

AJET President No More!
I'm done; no more presidenterineering for me.
Now I can get to the wonderful task of studying to retake the LSAT. Woo... yay.
So what exactly did I do as AJET President? (and what kinds of things can you expect if you are headed to Japan/Aomori this year?)
First, my ever vital VP and I organized a little soirée for everyone returning home after their tenure on JET. We held this shindig at a lovely establishment called Bar Atom, a delicious slice of Americana in the cold north of Japan.
Next up was Aomori Orientation. This was mainly organizational: paperwork, lectures, et cetera. Technically this is just supposed to be the domain of the prefectural government; so my time was essentially "voluntary". Also, the government didn't reimburse me for my hotel: those jerks. It's like they pay me to live in Japan and have an amazing time or something; how dare they.
Welcome Party: a prefecture wide fantastic festivity of food, friends, fun, and alliteration.
Culture Day; this guy actually took quite a bit of time and preparation, but it was all worth it. Here we had classes and demonstrations for Shogi (Japanese chess), Taiko drumming, Shamisen, Karate, Yukata Dressing, Yawata Uma (little horseys), Kingyo Nebuta (little fishies), Japanese Cooking, and Sumo.
Midyear Seminar: a seminar which was neither at the beginning nor the end of the year.
Skiboarding Weekend. Cabins rented. Beverages enjoyed. Mountains shred. It was everything for which one could have hoped.
St. Patrick's Day. A slap bet took place. The VP lost. He got the ever-living Hell slapped out of him. It was legen...
wait for it...
