See what I did there? I tried to think of a few other alternatives; they mostly involved physical violence. Instead I went with right/wrong as a juxtaposition to right/left in terms of political alignment. Then I proceeded to explain my choice. That was just then.
Here's the gist, some media types and a lot of republicans (i.e. the losers) say America is a Center-Right nation even though the Left clearly won control over the Executive and Legislative branches of our government. That's ridiculous.
As a mostly classically conservative individual, I hate how Republicans lie to themselves. They've been doing it for the past eight years (arguably 30 or 40), but I thought we could get past that.
Republican leadership has stolen elections; wasted tax dollars; engaged in needless, offensive, criminal wars; tortured; ruined America's standing in the world; wiretapped; undermined legal rights; and pushed a fundamentalist agenda to fight a fundamentalist agenda. Blah blah blah; they suck, we get it.
Now they are trying to establish a national agenda from the minority position by claiming that America is Center-Right. I'm sorry, but no. America is no longer what they claim as being "Center-Right". People voted for change because they were tired of the old ideologies that have ravaged our coffers and angered potential terrorists. We don't want to be that country anymore. We don't want to force our hand in the Middle East so Jewish people can firmly establish their kingdom in the biblical lands, Jesus will come back, and all those Jews will get massacred so that crazy fundamentalists can get in their 2:30 Ping-Pong game with Jesus Part Deux or whatever absurd beliefs they hold. In my opinion, belief in the Rapture is tantamount to belief in 40 virgins for martyrdom. (Also, I think the Jews have gotten a raw enough deal over the years, and Fundamentalists wanting them in place to die just so the "true believers" can get eternal life after death is really offensive.)
You know what I can get behind? Love thy neighbor, and don't murder. Let's try that for a foreign policy. Feed the hungry, and heal the sick. Bam, domestic policy. It's easy.
What would Jesus do? Support universal health care.
Center-Right is a lie.

Much of what lands in the press, I believe is fear based. I guess that is what sells. What did Jesus say? Fear not.
